Pretty french country farm decor. Had escargot appetizer that was rich and delicious, though too much food. Had a lamb duo... spare ribs were creative and tasty, but the rack was forgettable - not seasoned enough and the red wine reduction was sour and pointless. Baked Alaska dessert would have been good if they did not dump flaming alcohol on it, making it taste like a liquor cabinet. Good but I don't think it compares to Henkelmann.

Very few places compare in ambiance to La Panetiere. Service is first class, as is the ambiance. Order the souflee for dessert, it beats any in Manhattan, including Le Cirque and Daniel. If you can not take a trip to France, hop in your car and drive to Rye, NY. It is worth the trip, for this special occasion restaurant.

I went here for the first and only (so far) time a few weeks ago for a business dinner. The decor is extremely elaborate old-world French, yet very warm and cozy. The food was excellent and the prix fix menu was reasonable in context. This place almost competes with Thomas Henkelmann in Greenwich.... La Panetiere does tend to attract an older crowd, but then again Rye is not exactly a "hip" town. Nice date spot, maybe a bit much for a 1st though.

Decent food, nice service. Not spectacular. The wasabi sauce was a bit over the top for the durade tartare, pretty over powering. The lamb chop was perfect.
