Interesting wood fired baked pizza served in a large, square style. Coming from NYC, thought it was really greasy, slightly flavorful and nicely priced. Guess we showed up at the right time, as we found a seat right away, were served quickly and had a nice experience overall. Historic place, so-so pizza.

If you do not mind snotty and rude service, the pizza can be very good, or try Bar on Crown St for less attitude with excellent pie. Or Modern on State St for good quick pizza. The spot next door is owned by Pepe's too and much quicker.... They don't have a lock on good pizza any more.

Having been told that Frank Pepe Pizza is a Connecticut institution, with lines often around the block for pizza in New Haven, we decided to give the Manchester location a try. True to what we heard, the line was long and it is truly "no frills" inside - meeting our expectations. What didn't meet expectations, however, was the food. A very small salad was $4, and the pizza lacked both flavor and toppings. We will not be visiting again.

I have had better pizza delivered to my door. Nothing appealing for me about this place. Booths uncomfortable, pizza lousy......no reason to go back.

It was 4:30 pm on a Monday night, and there was still a line, but only a 15 minute wait. Our pizza was great and the medium was just the right size for 2 people who had been wandering New Haven area all day. Service was friendly and prompt. Only problem was the men's room line was right by our table.YES, a line for the men's room, instead of the ladies. price was great.
